1. You have been out on your boat but got delayed and you are returning home at dusk.  You forgot to turn on the pier/boathouse lights but, since you have your outside lighting controlled by your home automation system, you simply log in to your controller from your iPhone and switch on the lights.
2. You are on vacation but want the house to appear occupied.  Prior to leaving, you program your lighting to turn on and off in various rooms to simulate your normal activity.
